Armenian jeweler Shavarsh Hakobyan will present a new collection at the international jewelry exhibition GemGenève, which will be held on May 9 in Geneva, writes Diamond World.
Hakobyan is a graduate of the State Academy of Arts of Armenia. For his debut at the previous exhibition, the Armenian artist presented exclusive works in which materials and forms enter into an unusually poetic dialogue. His futuristic and luxurious jewelry captivated the audience. This time the young artist will return with a completely new collection.
The artist's first appearance at GemGenève enabled his work to gain international recognition and marked a decisive turning point in his career. Hakobyan’s return this year will be an opportunity to delve deeper into his creations.
The Armenian genius founded his eponymous brand in 2008. Experimenting with diverse and sometimes unusual materials such as wood, leather and fabric, Hakobyan uses materials for what they offer: movement.
His artistic practice is largely characterized by movement expressed through the use of solid materials. Developing designs that seek to “immortalize a fleeting moment,” his rings, brooches, and pendants feature a variety of smooth, undulating, and absorbing shapes that are strikingly beautiful.
Hakopyan's belief that nothing should stand still is evident in his creative process. At the core of his practice is a great sense of freedom, enabling the artist to pursue his project to completion. Approaching jewelry as an exercise in inventing something new, Shavarsh Hakobyan has been creating very modern jewelry for about twenty years.
