Costumes, props, scenery from ‘The Crown’ TV series to be auctioned

13:58, January 11

From a replica of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation dress to a reproduction of the Golden Carriage, costumes, props, and sets from the award-winning drama series “The Crown” are going up for auction in London this week, Reuters reports.

More than 450 items from the Netflix show, which focuses on the reign of the late UK monarch Elizabeth, will go on public display at Bonhams from Thursday ahead of the Crown Auction on February 7.

The series, which sparked controversy for its fictional dialogue and storylines, ended last month after six seasons during which actors Claire Foy, Olivia Colman, and Imelda Staunton portrayed the Queen at various stages of her reign.

Among the exhibits are the costumes of the main characters, including Elizabeth Debicki, who played the late Princess Diana in the series.

A replica of the Queen's coronation dress, imperial robe, and red coronation gown worn by Foy in season one is estimated to fetch £20,000-30,000, while the black off-the-shoulder dress worn by Debicki in season five, inspired by the so-called "Revenge Dress" of Diana at £8,000-£12,000.

Also up for sale is the world's only replica of the Golden State Coach (£30,000-£50,000) and a reproduction of the Coronation Chair (£10,000-£20,000). There is also a replica of the wrought iron gates of Buckingham Palace (£6,000–8,000) and a recreation of the façade of No. 10 Downing Street (£20,000–30,000).
