Thousands of rare works by Pablo Picasso are now available in a new online archive. An online portal with access to thousands of Picasso works, photographs, and related memorabilia is now available online thanks to the Picasso Museum in Paris, Art News reports.
Rare archives of the artist have been released ahead of the opening of a dedicated learning center next to the aforesaid museum later this year. The center is designed to accommodate researchers and artists.
This digital portal makes available the museum's extensive collection of Picasso's art, essays, conferences, podcasts, and interviews. In total, 19,000 photographs are included that have not previously been publicly exhibited. Another 200,000 texts from Picasso's workshops are also planned to be digitized and added to this portal in the coming years.
The Spanish painter and sculptor was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, especially as one of the founders of the Cubist movement, along with Georges Braque. Pablo Picasso was born in 1881 and lived most of his life in France. In 1992, his family archives were transferred to the French state, which continues to watch over them.
