Malta’s representative of Eurovision Song Contest 2016, Ira Losco had been in Armenia on April 3th. The singer was here during her Eurovision promo-tour. In her talk with NEWS.am STYLE Ira informed that she had known about the situation in Nagorno Karabakh Republic, but anyway she didn’t cancel her trip to Armenia.
«I got to know about the situation the day before we left. We had some advice about it, but I still wanted to come. I wanted to meet Iveta and I wanted to visit Armenia. I'm obviously displeased about the situation because I know there are people suffering on all sides, and on my part as an artist the most important thing for me is that through my music I give a message of peace and solidarity. And obviously I don't like this kind of situation anywhere in the world».
By the way the beautiful singer has presented a gift to Iveta Mukuchyan. Besides Ira mentions that she has liked our representative very much.
«We’re both very passionate about what we do. She is very dynamic artist. I like her a lot. She is very modern, very cosmopolitan, obviously very beautiful and very talented, she has got a great voice».
According to singer there are also a lot of similarities between Armenian and Maltese people.
«We are both very proud of our national heritage and our culture. In Malta also family is very important. We live in big families and are very close to our grandparents. I think it’s the same also in Armenia».
Ira Losco has stayed in Armenia for only two days. The singer mentions that would like to see more in Armenia, which she couldn’t manage to do because of her time limit.
«Armenia is a very beautiful place. We have been in Garni, Geghard and it’s fascinating. The food is amazing, I knew that I’m going to like the food, but it surpassed my expectations. And the people are so friendly. It’s amazing. I’m really glad that I came to Armenia».
As for her Eurovision song, it has a specific message.
«The song is called Walk on Water. The message is that you can do whatever you imagine. Even if something seems impossible you can make it happen. This is a message that a lot of people can relate to. For me it is something that I believe in. And why should people vote for my song? Because it’s got a current sound, it’s a bit of drama based. Because I’m singing it and I enjoy singing it»,-says Ira, who has also liked Iveta’s Eurovision song LoveWave.
«I have listened to Iveta’s song, have watched the video as well. And I really like it it’s very different. It’s modern, it’s got a very unique sound. I think that in Eurovision that is becoming more interesting that people come up with different songs. On stage I’m sure that it will be that different and impact».
