Many thought that Martin Scorsese's ‘Irishman’ with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci would pass by all the festivals. However, the New York Film Festival announced that this particular film will open the main show of this year already on September 27. The first official shots have already been revealed.
The world premiere of Martin Scorsese's Irish film is scheduled for September 27, the opening day of the 57th Film Festival in New York.
‘Irishman’ is a screen version of the best-selling Charles Brandt’s book. The title of the book refers to a mafia slang, meaning that the person addressed in this way works as a killer-mercenary, since after the murder blood stains remain on the walls and floors.
In his work, Brandt described the life of a real killer Frank Sheeran named Irishman (Robert De Niro), whom he met shortly before his death. He admitted to the writer that he worked for one of the biggest bosses of the underworld - Russell Buffalino (Joe Pesci) - and killed 25 people by his order. Among the victims of Sheeran was Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino), a former American trade union leader who unexpectedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Netflix, which has invested $ 160 million in the production of the film, plans to release the Irish in the fall, but the exact release date is not reported.
